<p>PURPOSE: To maintain a head gap in an appropreate position by turning the magnetic head until a measuring device shows that a connecting line connected with a height restriction plane is vertically extended to a flat surface passing through the head gap. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic head 63 is placed on a fitting plate 64 between two side part members 65 and 66, and the magnetic head 63 is connected with a manipulator for turning the head around a shaft vertical to a plane in contact with the head surface at the head gap 78 to the side part members 65 and 66, and then the magnetic head 63 is electrically connected with the measuring device. Then, an azimuth test tape is traveled along the head surface and a tape guide surface, and also the magnetic head 63 is turned around the shaft until the measuring device shows that the connecting line connected with the height restriction plane is vertically extended to the flat surface passing through the head gap 78, and then the magnetic head 63 is connected to the side part members 65 and 66 by bonding or welding. By this method, stable tape traveling and satisfactory contact between the tape and the head can be obtained.</p> |
