Viruses or viral antigens are obtained by culturing animal cells in a nutrient medium suspension. The animal cells are cultured in a first bioreactor (A) under continuous addition of nutrient medium in suspension. When a given cell concentration is reached, the cell suspension is transferred to a second bioreactor (B) where it is used as the nutrient medium for culturing the virus under continuous addition of a conservation medium. When a given quantity of virus is produced, the cells and cell residues are continuously separated from the virus-containing nutrient medium suspension in a first filtration arrangement and the residue is discarded. The virus or viral antigen and nutrient medium suspension in the filtrate are continuously separated in a second filtration arrangement. The virus or viral antigen are concentrated and the nutrient medium is discarded.
|
