PURPOSE:To prevent peeling of a catalyst and to improve durability by laminating both a planar metallic plate and a corrugated metallic plate alternately in a multilayer state with a prescribed structure and holding them in a housing and coating a catalyst on the surfaces of respective metallic plates. CONSTITUTION:A planar plate 12 part and a corrugated plate 14 part are formed alternately and continuously in a range over prescribed length along the lengthwise direction of a base material 18. Thereafter the base material 18 is successively bent and folded in the boundary part 20 of both the planar plate 12 part and the corrugated plate 14 part and respective planar plate 12 parts and corrugated plate 14 parts are alternately laminated and allowed to coincide with the cross-sectional shape of a casing 16. Then at a time for forming this lamination, the surfaces and rears of respective planar plates 12 and the corrugated plates 14 are coated with a catalyst such as alumina by alumina wash-coating, etc., and thereafter a catalytic carrier 6 made of metal is formed by inserting them under pressure into the casing 16. |
