PURPOSE:To obtain a sealed lead-acid battery having good high-rate discharge performance and good cycling performance by removing free dilute sulfuric acid which is not retained in electrodes and a separator after charging, and then pouring a specific sol-state dilute sulfuric acid. CONSTITUTION:Dilute sulfuric acid is poured in a clad type lead-acid battery, and the battery is charged, then free dilute sulfuric acid which is not retained in a clad type positive plate 1, a paste type negative plate 3, and a glass fiber separator 2 is removed, and sol-state dilute sulfuric acid containing 6% or more SiO2 or Al2O3 is poured again. Dilute sulfuric acid little containing SiO2 or Al2O3 is retained in the plates and separator, and gelled sulfuric acid 4 containing SiO2 or Al2O3 exists only in the space between the positive plate and separator and in the upper part of the plates. High rate discharge performance and cycle life are increased. |
