PURPOSE: To treat cancer cells selectively without giving damages to normal cells by introducing ferromagnetic, paramagnetic or diamagnetic microparticles into cells of living tissues and exposing the microparticles to an AC electromagnetic field. CONSTITUTION: Microparticles suspended in an appropriate solution are introduced into the cells of living tissues by intravenous injection. The microparticles have a diameter of about 1μ or less and consist of ferromagnetic, paramagnetic or diamagnetic materials so that the microparticles are heated when they are exposed to a high frequency AC electromagnetic field. The microparticles are introduced into a patient and are exposed to an AC electromagnetic field so that the microparticles are heated inductively to increase the cell temperature by 8.0-9.5 deg.C thus sufficiently heating and killing the cancer cells without damaging normal cells. The increase in the selectivity and the affinity of these particles to the cancer cells can be attained by letting these particles to capture specific radioisotope elements or tumor specific antibodies to be bonded with these particles. |
