In an actuating device, especially for a rod control system, having a pedal (2) which is to be actuated from a sitting position, the said pedal (2) is combined with a control lever arm (11) assigned to its base to form an angle lever, and is articulated at the fulcrum to the free end of a mount (5) which can be used as a single-arm lever which is movable in the same direction of rotation, it being possible to fix the said mount (5) in any settable angular position. The control lever arm (11) forms, via a connecting rod (12), together with a rocker (13) which is movable about the fulcrum of the mount, a four-bar mechanism, with the rocker (13) as a two-arm lever, a control rod (1) being articulated to its free lever arm (13.1).
