PURPOSE:To obtain a spherical microparticulate pigment excellent in dispersibility, tinting strength, clearness, etc., by reacting a water-soluble dye with an insolubilizing agent for this water-soluble dry in a W/O emulsion prepared by using a nonionic surfactant. CONSTITUTION:A W/O emulsion containing a nonionic surfactant (e.g., monoisostearyl glyceryl ether), an oil (e.g., liquid paraffin) and water is prepared. A water-soluble dye (e.g., Yellow No.4) is reacted with an insolubilizing agent for this water-soluble dye (e.g., basic polyaluminum chloride) in the aqueous phase of the emulsion. In this way, a spherical microparticulate pigment having a spherical form, a particle diameter <=0.5mum and being surface-treated with said surfactant can be obtained. Because the obtained pigment is surface-treated with a surfactant, it can be easily dispersed and can be desirably used for cosmetics, paints, etc.
|
