The press for pressing powdered and bulk materials to form pellets has a perforated die (2) on which the material to be pressed can be mounted. There is furthermore provided a pan grinder head (5) with pan grinder rollers (4) which can be made to rotate with respect to the die (2) by means of a motor (9). On the other hand, the die (2) could be driven and the pan grinder head (5) could be stationary. The pan grinder rollers (4) roll on the die (2), but the precise speed of rotation being set by means of motors (12) in such a way that there is no sliding movement between the pan grinder rollers and the dies, but a desired advancing or retarding sliding movement is achieved. <IMAGE>
