PURPOSE:To copy backup use data of an external storage device to other storage medium without stopping a regular job processing by holding the data which is updated in the course of a dump processing, in a state that the dump is not ended yet. CONSTITUTION:When data is being dumped to a magnetic tape device 12 from a magnetic disk device 10, when data on a cylinder 723 is updated while data on a cylinder 725 of the disk device 10 is being dumped, in accordance therewith, '1' is written in an updating A field and an updating B field of an updating cylinder management table 20 corresponding to the cylinder 723. Subsequently, when the data from all the cylinders in which the updating A field shows '1' are dumped, a microprocessor 6 resets all the updating A fields except that which has '1' in the related updating B field. Accordingly, the data of the cylinder 723 is added as an object of the next dump processing. |
