Golf training system comprises clubs (10), balls (11), a mat (12) and a net (14). The club (10) has a conventional shaft and handle but the striking portion may be cylindrical with a radius less than 1.25 cm or other shape with much reduced dimensions and weight. Alternatively an adaptor may be attached to the face of a conventional club to present a striking portion with curvature and/or reduced dimensions. Ball may be of normal or reduced diameter and of reduced weight. The net may be small and of light construction because of the reduced weight of the balls used.
