A bomb has a nose portion provided with braking means constituted by transverse corrugations 5, 6 normally covered by a cover 12 having a smooth outer surface, the cover being adapted to be removed from the corrugated surface upon release of the bomb from an aircraft. Alternatively, the cover may be removed by a wire attached to the cover and to an adjoining portion of the aircraft.
