PURPOSE:To mold any material, powder or whisker having any production history under approximately the same conditions, by coating the surface of any metal, ceramic powder or whisker with an aluminum alkoxide. CONSTITUTION:A composite material formed by coating the surface of powder or whisker of various ceramics or metals is coated with an aluminum alkoxide. When the composite material is heated in an oxidizing or inert atmosphere, the surface layer is changed into alumina and chemical properties of the surface thereof shows behavior close to alumina rather than those of the inner powder or whisker. Consequently, in slip casting or extrusion molding, the composite material can be molded under approximately the same conditions irrespective of kinds of raw material powder or whisker and production history. |
