PURPOSE:To obtain the title cloth having excellent shape stability, etc., at low cost by subjecting a liquid crystal polyarylate or a liquid crystal polyester amide to melt spinning, making spun yarn into a cloth, further subjecting the cloth to solid-phase polymerization at a fixed temperature and heating to a given temperature. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystalline polyarylate or liquid crystal polyester amide containing a mesogen group shown by formula I (X and Y are alkyl, alkoxy, cyano and A-B is unit shown by formula II) in a main chain is subjected to melt spinning to form yarn. Then the yarn is made into cloth by paper making method, etc., and further solid-phase polymerization is carried out at >=-80 deg.C liquid crystal starting temperature. Then, the cloth is heated to a temperature >=the melting point of the yarn after the solid-phase polymerization to give the aimed cloth having nonmelting properties and flame retardance. |
