PURPOSE: To retain freshness of products, for instance, stored in a refrigerator, by composing a package of a hard vessel for an active component and equipping openings covered by a gas permeable material on the vessel. CONSTITUTION: A vessel of this atmosphere regulator is made of a blank which consists of two material layers 2 and 4, and the layer 2 is comparatively hard and, on the other hand, the layer 4 is film-formed and gas permeable. Each of three side faces of the vessel has three ellipse openings 6 which is formed as a hard layer 2 and covered with a gas permeable layer 4. To form the vessel, a tab for sticking 12 is pasted on the inside surface of a panel 10, a tab 14 on one end part is folded, and the end part is closed. An active component such as pellets or granules of potassium permanganate are filled and then the other end tab is folded and pasted. This atmosphere regulator is set in a refrigerator or a food retaining cabinet. Air permeates through the material 4 covering the opening 6, circulates in the atmosphere regulator, and ethylene gas is absorbed by potassium permanganate. Ripening deterioration of fruits is delayed since ethylene gas does not exist. |
