ENGINE COOLER

摘要

PURPOSE:To properly cool the upper and the lower part of a liner which is inserted in a cylinder block by forcedly circulating cooling water on the upper part of the liner and causing natural convection of cooling water to a circulation chamber on the lower part of the liner. CONSTITUTION:A water jacket 9 is formed inside a cylinder block 1, as sur rounding a cylinder in which a liner 2 is inserted. An upper circulation chamber 6 and a lower convection flow chamber 7 are formed between the inwall 11 and the liner 2 of the cylinder block 1. The circulation chamber 6 is defined by three circumferential horizontal grooves 21 to 23 and two vertical grooves 24 and 25 which meet said grooves 21 to 23 at right angles. The convection flow chamber 1 is defined between the inwall 11 and the liner 2 and communicat ed with the circulation chamber 6 via two vertical grooves 24 and 25. An inlet 3 communicated with a water jacket 9 is formed just beneath the vertical groove 24 and an outlet 4 is formed above the other vertical groove 25.
