PURPOSE:To produce useful medicines, etc., with practical process by hydrolyz ing a pantothenic acid ester with a specific microorganism. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain capable of converting a pantothenic acid ester into pantothenic acid is selected from microbial strains of genus Escherichia, genus Aerobacter, genus Citrobactor, genus Serratia, genus Alcaligenes, genus Flavobacterium, genus Bacillus, genus Agrobacterium, genus Micrococcus, genus Corynebacterium, genus Staphylococcus, etc. One or more kinds of the microbial strain selected from the above group are aerobically cultured in a medium containing glucose, etc., at 15-60 deg.C and pH3-10 to obtain cultured microbial cells. The cells, etc., are made to react with 10-250g/l of a pantothenic acid ester (e.g., ethyl ester) at 10-50 deg.C for several hr -3days while adjusting the pH to 3-11 with NaOH, etc., to obtain pantothenic acid or its salt (e.g., Na salt). |
