The connection between horizontal (26) and vertical (2) hollow section is effected by means of an intermeidate joining piece (12). The joining piece is constructed from two pieces of identical shape (14,16) which are grooved to take a pin (18). The pin has identical hooks at either end and is free to move slightly in an axial direction within the block. The two halves are riveted together. The joint is assembled by fitting the pin into the hole (10) in the vertical section with the joint foot (58) against its forward face (6). When the pin (24) for the horizontal section engages with the sloping face of the groove (22) in the joint, the latter is locked. Ribs (84) provide extra support at the load points. ADVANTAGE - The joint has only three parts and can be made without the use of tools. It is self locking but can be easily dismounted by upward pressure on the horizontal section.
