A beehive is provided with a tray (1) which is fitted in the upper part of the hive. This tray holds the food which is provided for the bees and is accessible by the bees through an opening (4) in the form of a chimney. A second chimney (9) is provided which has a floor (6) formed by a perforated plate. This plate supports a parasiticide in the form of volatile material so that a vapour, which destroys mites, is spread through the hive. The perforated floor prevents the bees from coming into direct contact with the parasiticide. USE - Beekeeping.
