An agricultural crop seed drill has a pressure wheel (4) for the seeds, located coaxially and rotating together with a depth control wheel (5) which has a smaller radius than that of the pressure wheel. The depth control wheel has a deformable rim covering, e.g. in the form of a low-pressure pneumatic tyre (13), and its radius is between 2 and 5 per cent, and preferably 10 percent, smaller than that of the pressure wheel. The pressure wheel can have a single depth control wheel which is sealed to it on one side, and it can also have a scraper (19) fitted on the opposite side to remove clinging soil.
