Process for the machine cleaning of textiles

The invention relates to a novel process for the machine cleaning of textiles in washing machines with ion exchange softening by using as the final rinse fabric conditioner a dilute organic acid, especially citric acid, and, after it has been in contact with the textiles, utilising the fabric conditioner solution for regenerating the ion exchanger. The invention further relates to an apparatus for carrying out this process.
