The unit for producing hydraulic power consists of a primary pump with several working cylinders and in each case a piston, which can be guided in a reciprocating manner by a crankshaft which can be set in rotation by a main drive, for delivering a hydraulic primary output at a given constant pressure and constant volume, and with a power take-off for the drive of a secondary pump with pressure compensation and variable output, the outlet of which drives a pressure booster which serves to boost hydraulic fluid fed to the booster at a first pressure and volume to the required secondary pressure and a corresponding volume. <IMAGE>
