In order to empty and rinse the discharge collection vessel of a medical aspiration device for the treatment of ears, nose and throat automatically after each treatment procedure and simultaneously rinse and disinfect the flexible suction line 10 leading to the vessel in one pass, there is a connection 19 for this suction line 10 which can automatically and consecutively be connected to a source of rinsing liquid (e.g. water from the mains) and to a liquid disinfectant source 13, 14.
