PURPOSE:To obtain a lithium cell with the small internal resistance and excellent storage characteristic and in addition the excellent cycle characteristic as a secondary cell by using a negative electrode coated with lithium hydroxide on the surface of a negative electrode material containing lithium. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a negative electrode is coated with lithium hydroxide in a lithium cell provided with the negative electrode containing lithium, a positive electrode, and an electrolyte provided between the positive and negative electrodes. The negative electrode is coated with lithium hydroxide on the surface of a lithium/carbon composite material or the like, polymer of benzene and its derivative such as polyacetylene or polymer of hetero or polynuclear aromatic compound such as polypyridine can be used for the positive electrode, for example. The lithium in the negative electrode is effectively prevented from being reacted with the electrode and a solvent and deteriorating the cell characteristic, a lithium cell with the small internal resistance and excellent storage characteristic and in addition the excellent cycle characteristic as a secondary cell is obtained. |
