PURPOSE:To finish an end surface to constant size in a short time by adhering and fixing an optical fiber to an optical connector ferrule which is formed longer than prescribed length in advance and then cutting and disconnecting the ferrule. CONSTITUTION:The optical connector ferrule 1 is formed 0.1-4mm longer than the prescribed length in advance and the optical fiber 2 is adhered and fixed to this optical connector ferrule 1 so that its tip part is projected. Then the ferrule is cut and disconnected by using a diamond blade 3. The end surface is finished with a lapping film, etc., after said cutting and disconnecting process, and special finishing is carried out to finish the optical connector to the prescribed size and also finish its end surface specularly. Thus, the rough polishing in a polishing process is substituted with the cutting and disconnecting process which uses the diamond blade 3 to easily finish the ferrule to the constant side and finish the end surface irrelevantly to variance in the size of the optical connector ferrule and variance in the length of the projecting optical fiber. |
