PURPOSE:To obtain an electrolyte plate which does not break by going up and down of cell temperature by using an electrolyte matrix whose bending elastic modulus is 200kg/mm<2> or less in an electrolyte plate of a molten carbonate fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:An anode 3 and a cathode 4 are combined with an electrolyte plate 2 prepared by impregnating a carbonate in an electrolyte matrix made of gamma-lithium carbonate to form a molten carbonate fuel cell. The electrolyte matrix whose bending elastic modulus is 200kg/mm<2> is used in the electrolyte plate 2. The breakage of the electrolyte matrix is controlled only by bending elastic modulus independent of the composition of the matrix, reinforcing material added to the matrix, how to manufacture the matrix, and its porosity. The electrolyte plate which does not break by going up and down of cell temperature can be obtained. |
