A force transmitting band is described which comprises a flat band-like central region 1 and connection loops 2 provided at both ends, with the connection loops being formed by the turn-over regions of a plurality of loops of a filamentary material which each have the same length, and with all the individual loop strings being arranged alongside one another in the central region disposed between the connection eyes and being fixed in a flat band configuration by a thermoplastic material. The filament may be aramid sleeved with thermoplastic polyurethane after winding the load about end rolls 6, 7 fig 2 the central portion is heated to melt the polyurethane to form a bonding matrix <IMAGE>
