A transmitter for a remote control according to the invention is capable of transmitting or receiving data of the control characteristics of a joystick as a result of which the setting up of control characteristics is facilitated. The transmitter contains a storage device for storing the control characteristics and a control device for controlling the transmission and the reception of data between the storage device and an external device which is connected to the transmitter.
