PURPOSE:To sufficiently make up for a bending in the vertical direction of a work roll given the horizontal bending by providing chamfers on the outer periphery of a stay roll contacting with the work roll or an intermediate roll, or by providing a vertical bending apparatus on the intermediate roll. CONSTITUTION:On both sides in the axial direction of the upper stay roll 3 contacting with the small diameter upper work roll 1, the chamfers 3a are provided. Therefore, even when offset values e1, e2 are large, when a horizontal bending is given to the small diameter work roll 1, said small diameter work roll 1 is bent also, in the vertical direction along the outer periphery of the upper stay roll 3 even if the lateral bending force is small, an increasing bending is easily given to the small diameter work roll 1, the control ability of the small diameter work roll 1 is improved. |
