<p>The present invention relates to a system for checking the programming of data contained in the software of a machine tool and relating to the diameter and/or the extended length of tools intended to be mounted, in an automatic machining cycle programmed in the said software, on a spindle (6) of the machine tool (7). The system comprises: - a fixed support (1); - a movable assembly (2) mounted on the said support and capable of being displaced with respect to the latter, the said assembly carrying a feeler (3); - means (17) for detecting the displacement of the said feeler (3) with respect to the said support (1); and - a jig (4) intended to be introduced into the spindle (6) of the machine tool and to define a reference position corresponding to an initial position imposed on each of the said tools when the latter are held successively and automatically in the said spindle before machining, the feeler (3) of the said assembly being brought tangentially to the said jig (4) in order to define in turn the said reference position.
