摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for measurement greatly by making homogeneous light incident on a sample in various directions at the same time, detecting light which is transmitted through the sample by many photoelectric converting elements, and polarizing and analyzing the light by the photoelectric converting elements. CONSTITUTION:When the measurement light is made incident on the sample 15 on various directions, the light beams which are transmitted through the sample 15 in the various directions becomes elliptic polarized light beams which differ in the degree of polarization according to the three-dimensional anisotropy, incidence angle theta, and azimuth angle beta of the sample and are diverged toward a convex lens 24. The light passed through the convex lens 24 becomes light 33 parallel to the axis 30 of the measuring instrument and passes through an analyzer 7 and is photodetected by an area sensor 27. Then arithmetic operation is carried out by the photoelectric converting elements which constitute the area sensor 27 to find a birefringence phase difference, thereby storing many data by a single-time measuring operation.</p>
