The setting is made by first making a recess in the mount. This is shaped by a conical turning tool and its outer edge forms a lip, by creep. Inside of the lip a hole is made for the stone which has a diameter which is slightly greater than that of the stone. The stone is then put in place, inside the hole. The lip is folded mechanically on to the edge of the stone to hold it in place. The setting is finished off in the usual way. USE - For setting a stone in a jewellery setting.
