A novel Mn-Zn ferrite contains nickel oxide, pref. in amount 0.05-1 (esp. 0.5) wt. % based on the oxides of Fe, Mn and Zn, to reduce the total loss. USE/ADVANTAGE - The ferrite is used esp. for power applications, typically in electrical energy conversion, h.f. power transformers, power choke inductors, etc. The nickel oxide addn. produces a negative slope of the curve of total loss versus temp. without deleterious effect on other essential properties of the ferrite.
