<p>Disclosed is a novel polyester fiber, such as a poly(ethylene terephthalate) fiber, having at least one continuous groove wherein the surface of the groove is rougher than the surface outside the groove. Also disclosed is a drafting process involving surface hydrolysis for the preparation of such fibers. The fibers have improved cover, softness, and wetting characteristics.</p> |
