1289256 Endless chain conveyers RUDKETTENFABRIK RIEGER & DIETZ 28 May 1971 [19 June 1970] 17907/71 Heading B8A Load carriers 25 are maintained horizontal at the transition from upper to lower runs of the conveyer (and vice versa), by the provision of an inner pair of endless supporting chains 11, 12, to which the leading end of each carrier is pivotally mounted, and an outer pair of endless chains 13, 14, staggered with respect to the chains 11, 12, in the direction of conveyance, which support the trailing end of each carrier 25. The trailing supports are provided by pins 29, 30, for respective sides of each carrier. These are retractable inwardly from engagement with the chains 13, 14, at positions where the inner and outer chains cross each other (when the conveyer is viewed in side elevation), so that they do not foul the inner chains. This is brought about by the action of cam slots 38, 39 (Fig. 2), which engage followers 35 on the pins 29. The trailing ends of the carriers 25 are supported during this action by the engagement of a roller 46 (mounted on the carrier) with teeth of a sprocket 44 (Fig. 7). Also, rollers 40 mounted on each side of the carrier 25, engage respective tracks 42. In a modification (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown), the rollers 40 engage respective sprockets (47), (48), each of which corresponds to the sprocket 44 of Fig. 7. |
