PURPOSE: To miniaturize a pager capable of displaying the large amount of information such as Chinese or the like by using an optimum bit number and addressing only one entrance from a fixed length character font table capable of covering infinite characters and pictographs by a floating storage method. CONSTITUTION: This device is constituted of a microcontroller unit A, a RAM B, a complementary metal oxide semiconductor/masking ROM C, a liquid crystal display segment driving circuit D, a liquid crystal display common driving circuit E, a high contrast liquid crystal display device F and a liquid crystal display power source circuit G. Then, a floating storage technique(FST) is applied and data words are converted to the characters and/or images to be displayed by a method for enlarging the total number of the displayable characters and/or images to be more than the N-th power of 2 (2 raised to the N-th power) by using one or more data words of the N-th power of 2 possible for changing conversion and/or the method used in character generation. Thus, the large-scale vocabulary of Chinese or the like is stored in the storage device of the size of about a cigarette case. |
