CONSTITUTION: When a leading edge 46 of an already straightly cut fabric web 20 is carried along a laying blade 38 and the leading edge 46 is detected by a detector 64, a control means 70 decelerates the carrier speed. The decelerated leading edge 46 covers a light receiving surface 50 of a photodetector 50 and the transfer of the leading edge 46 in the laying direction is immediately stopped.
