PURPOSE: To lubricate a joint and to allay pain by injecting an effective amount of pharmaceutical composition containing a polymer or copolymer of acrylamide or/and methacrylamide with a specific molecular weight and a medically allowable diluent into a joint contracting arthritis. CONSTITUTION: By injecting an effective amount of a drug composition containing a polymer or copolymer of acrylamide or/and methacrylamide with molecular weight about 1-15 million and a pharmaceutically allowable diluent into a joint contracting arthritis of a mammal, the joint is lubricated and a pain is allayed to perform the treatment of degenerative joint disease. Effective polyacrylamide is produced by polymerizing acrylamide, methacrylamide, or a mixture of those. A diluent with biological compatibility, which does not buffer antarthritic characteristics of the composition and can be suspended in gel form, can be used as a pharmaceutically tolerable diluent. The preferable range of a dose is about 0.2-5ml for one injection. |
