Foil-framework porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns and bridge members with occlusal contact areas of metal, and production thereof

Crown and bridge framework of thin noble metal foils which are fully encased in a ceramic veneer are not suitable for all applications because of the high hardness and abrasion resistance of ceramics. For this reason, the functional contact zone areas on the upper part of the framework of the foil porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns and bridges according to the invention are made of a metal, whereas the remaining areas are still fully veneered. It is now also possible to veneer with a plastic. The contact areas are produced by building them up with sinterable metal compositions or by soldering-on or grinding-in suitable finished components.
