Method for the production of a workpiece composed of a nickel-based superalloy hardened by oxide dispersion and consisting of a single crystal with a preferential longitudinal direction starting from a fine-grain extruded feed stock by cutting it out of the latter and then zone-annealing the workpiece, such that the direction (2) of extrusion encloses in the workpiece (3) an angle beta of 0 to 60@ with the recrystallisation front (7), which lies essentially in the plane of the induction coil (8) of the heating device for zone-annealing. Variant: in a first zone-annealing process, only a part of the workpiece situated on the narrow side is converted into a single crystal and, in a second, conventional zone-annealing process, this is forced to grow into the remaining fine-grained part. <IMAGE>
