The invention relates to a pressure cut-off device at the limit positions of the steering lock in a power steering system. In steering systems which have a working piston (2) which can be displaced in the steering housing, this cut-off device is built into a through-hole (17) of the working piston (2). A cut-off valve (20, 22 and 21, 23) which can be actuated by a plunger (24 and 25) which runs up against the wall (30 and 31) is provided for each steering direction. In order to avoid time-consuming adjustment operations of the cut-off valves (20, 22; 21, 23), the walls (30 and 31) contain bushings (32 and 33) which are located opposite the plungers (24 and 25) and which, after installation of the power steering system into the vehicle, can be pressed automatically into the limit positions corresponding to the wheel steering angle. This takes place in that, after the prefitting of the bushings (32, 33) in their holes (26 and 27) with the front axle jacked up, the system is steered towards the wheel stops initially without power steering. During this process, the bushings (32 and 33) are pressed in by the working piston (2) to the degree (a) provided for switching off the power steering. Since the plungers (24 and 25) of the cut-off valves (20, 22; 21, 23) are larger, by the amount (x) than the depth (s) of the hole of the bushings (32 and 33), the power steering switches off just before the wheel stops are reached. <IMAGE>
