<p>The invention relates to a mechanically strengthened glass fibre mat which is suitable for reinforcing plastic-composite materials and The aim of the invention is to provide a glass fibre mat as a reinforcing material for which is not subject to any reduction in stability, which has a low resistance to bending and therefore a high degree of contour adaptability, a variable breaking strength and bulkiness and allows accurate working methods in the production of plastic-composite materials. The object is solved according to the invention in that knitting needles are passed in a crossrow manner through a thread cluster, which consists of randomly distributed loops of a fairly large number of glassfibre threads, and the cluster is strengthened by a mesh-forming thread system. Polyester or polyamide threads may be used. The thread cluster can also be strengthened and bonded in the warp and/or weft direction with one or more previously prepared nonwoven textile fabrics or a thread assembly.</p> |
