<p>1293743 Preventing unauthorized use of IC engines SOC D'EXPLOITATION DES BREVETS NEIMAN S A 9 Jan 1970 [30 Jan 1969] 1155/70 Heading F1B [Also in Division H1N] A starter switch for a starter motor of an internal-combustion engine incorporates pressureresponsive means connectible to the engine inlet manifold and serving in operation to mechanically block actuation of the switch when the engine is running and a partial vacuum exists in the manifold. As shown, tube 18 is connected to the manifold and when the partial vacuum occurs piston 2 is moved downwards and lug 22 on piston 2 enters groove 25 to limit the rotation of the switch. On release, piston 2 is freed from groove 25 by spring 3. When the switch is rotated, ramp 20 moves upwards latch 11 unlocking the steering. Latch 11 is normally urged downwards into the locking position by spring 14. In a second embodiment, Figs.3, 4 (not shown) piston 2 is at right angles to the switch rotor and engages a semi-torridal groove. In a third embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown) piston 2 is at right angles to the switch and lug 22 engages a notch 27 in a slot 26. In all embodiments the piston may be replaced by a diaphragm or by an elastic hollow finger which may be reinforced by a spring.</p> |
