PURPOSE:To produce cystatin C in high efficiency, by introducing a chemical synthesis gene containing a base sequence coding cystatin C having a specific amino acid sequence into a plasmid vector, thereby forming a recombinant. CONSTITUTION:A chemical synthesis gene containing a base sequence coding cystatin C having an amino acid sequence of formula I is inserted into a plasmid vector to obtain a recombinant plasmid. A host cell is transformed with the recombinant plasmid and the obtained transformant is cultured. The objective cystatin C is produced by collecting and purifying the cystatin C manifested by the culture. The purification of the cystatin C is preferably carried out by hydrophobic chromatography, cationic chromatography, etc. The plasmid vector is preferably pBR322 and the host cell is preferably Escherichia coli. |
