PURPOSE:To reduce a surface reflection to be caused by a metal and to improve the picture quality by forming a light shielding pattern made of a metal and a common electrode by allowing them to come into contact with each other at the upper and the lower positions or superposing them, and placing the light shielding pattern made of a metal at the side being near a liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:On a protective film 134, a common electrode 136 consisting of a transparent conductive material, and also, a light shielding pattern 132 are provided, and they are covered with an oriented film 138. A material of the common electrode 136 is, for instance, indium.tin oxide, and that of the light shielding pattern 132 is chrome, and its thickness is very thin, for instance, as about 500-5,000A, respectively. Since the light shielding pattern 132 made of a metal is placed at the rear of each filter picture element R', G' and B', a surface reflected light beam of the light shielding pattern 132 is reduced and the picture quality can be improved. |
