<p>PURPOSE:To reduce a quantizing distortion for decoding an encoding code to which the comparatively small number of bits is assigned by using the correlation between the level of a noticed picture element and and a peripheral picture element level. CONSTITUTION:A peripheral data fetching circuit 2 to which the encoding code is applied from a terminal 1 fetches the encoding code of the noticed picture element and the encoding code of the peripheral picture element. A comparison circuit 11 compares the output of the fetching circuit 2 and applies the compared output to a summing up circuit 20. A correction code generating circuit 23 forms a correction code based on the output of the summing up circuit 20 and applies to an addition circuit 24. The addition circuit 24 adds the decoded data of the encoded data of the notice picture element from a decoding circuit 25 and the correction code to obtain the decoded data.</p> |
