The invention relates to items of luggage with straps which can be converted from a form held on one's back to a form held in one's hand or over one's shoulder, for use by the general traveller. The luggage comprises two distinct bags A and B which can be assembled together or separated by a linear or punctiform closure means 1, arranged along a joining axis between the two bags A and B, each bag being provided, in the vicinity of its edges, with means for attaching the adjustable straps 2 and 3 so as to enable the luggage to be carried in one's hand, on one's back or over one's shoulder. If desired, one of the bags may be reduced to a virtually flat overall size so as to be inserted inside the other bag and thus to halve the overall volume of the luggage. <IMAGE>
