PURPOSE:To obtain a substrate for optical disks excellent in moisture and heat resistance and optical characteristics, by casting and curing a liquid composition consisting of an epoxy resin and an acid anhydride containing a specified amount of a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:A substrate for optical disks obtained by casting and curing an epoxy resin-acid anhydride based liquid composition consisting of an acid anhydride, prepared by reacting alpha-terpinene (1,3-p-menthadiene) with maleic anhydride by the Diels-Alder reaction and subjecting the resultant 1-isopropyl-4- methyl-bicyclo(2.2.2)octan-5-ene-2.3-dicar-boxylic acid anhydride to hydrogenation reaction in the presence of Raney nickel, etc., as a catalyst and containing the obtained compound in an amount of 20-80wt.% based on the total amount of the acid anhydride (preferably having >=50mol.% residual double bond) and an epoxy resin. The above-mentioned liquid composition is preferably prepared by blending the acid anhydride with the epoxy resin at 0.8-1.2 ratio to 1 equiv. epoxy resin. |
