摘要 The thin material (1) is formed into a roll (2) and apart from a pulse transmitter (5) coupled to a driving support roller (3), a unit (6) processes the transmitted pulses, where a specific number of pulses corresponds to a determined strip length (1a). A further pulse transmitter (13) is fitted on the roll axis to measure the number of revolutions (n) through which the roll has rotated with a further calculating unit used for multiplication, division and addition. For a specific number of winding revolutions, the rolled material length is measured, and a corresp. average dia. is calculated. Measurement is repeated continuously, so that at the next measurement sequence the same number of winding revolutions is used and a new rolled material length is measured, the resultant new average dia. being calculated. The difference between the average diameters is continuously formed, and the actual outer dia. of the roll and the material thickness are calculated. The remaining material length to bring the roll to the requisite external dia. is then calculated. (Provisional basic advised week 86/40)
