Control device for the intake of gas for an internal combustion engine comprising a pipe 1 equipped with an orientable butterfly valve 2 mounted on a spindle 3 located transversely to this pipe and actuated by an accelerator pedal P and, in bypass with respect to the butterfly valve 2, an auxiliary pipe 17, 18 which can be blocked off by an electromagnetic valve 15, 16. This device includes means 8, 8a, 8b, 9 for the delayed opening of the butterfly valve 2 keeping it closed for a stroke of the accelerator pedal P which is less than a predetermined value, starting from its rest position, and means 13, 14 for excitation of the electromagnetic valve 15, 16 so that its opening takes place in proportion with the stroke of the accelerator pedal P as soon as the latter moves away from its rest position. <IMAGE>
