An oral hygiene system including an aseptic container (44) enclosing a disposable dental hygiene head (22) having a socket (24) for receiving a detachable handle (32) having a male extension (31) for penetrating the aseptic container to engage the socket of the head. The socket and male extension form a fit which prevents rotation between the handle and head.
